Beauty with Thorns

A good friend of mine gave me a little cactus to take care of, after hearing about the deaths of my previous two cacti that lived together in a single pot. As you can see below, this one is still a baby, however I am confident that it will be taken great care of.

I love how the thorns on the cactus give this brilliant gold color in full sunlight. The flower that bloomed on the side looks pretty as well, however it looks like it may need to be taken care of as it shows some signs of wilting.

What I love about the cactus plant is that it is a beautiful yet strong plant species, able to withstand hot weather over long periods while only requiring a little bit of water every five days. It is one of the easiest types of plants to take care of, and its beauty shines through despite the aggressive outer appearance.

Strength blended with pure beauty is a rarity in real life, and the existence of the cactus plant is proof that this form of beauty is present in a world where weakness is seen all around. Only those with a sound mind and appreciation for the finer things in life will be able to spot such things without doubt, and I consider myself of those with the said traits.
